Survival

One of the most challenging hurdles to change is a limited mindset. Most of the families we support have lost hope that things will ever get better, with so many major problems keeping them on the edge of survival - it’s impossible for them to know where to begin.

The Priestmead Survival Team focuses on restoring that hope. We show our beneficiary families that someone, Priestmead, really does care about them. In addition to a strict nutrition plan, structured counselling sessions open the minds of the parents and children, enabling them to believe that change is possible.

“I am happy because Priestmead has reached me in my hopeless life with my wife and children and rehabilitated me. Now I am full of hope, joy, happiness and eager to strive for my self-reliance.”

The Survival Division is where the program begins for most families. It starts with an assessment of their current physical health which is used to monitor their progression - within a few months, most adults and children are in the ‘green’ zone - no longer showing any signs of malnourishment.

The Survival Team, lead by Jacqueline, runs a series of lessons to develop the mindset of families and educate on essential topics - including pride and discipline at home, the importance of hygiene, parenting and skills needed to improve quality of life and peace at home.
