Onwards & upwards

Priestmead is a family owned, non-profit organisation, founded in the UK, operating in Rwanda, East Africa. We provide a self development program for the most vulnerable families living in some of the poorest areas of the country - taking them from malnourishment and extreme poverty to fulfilment and total self-sufficiency.

“I cannot do all the good that the world needs. But the world needs all the good that I can do.”

Songwriter

What do we do?

Priestmead exists to develop the mindset of those who have lost hope - families living in some of the worst conditions in rural areas of Rwanda. Our program, aims to demonstrate, teach and enable families to become truly self-sufficient.

The program is provided to families living in extreme poverty, suffering from severe malnourishment in addition to other serious health conditions.

How does it work?

We work closely within local communities to identify those that need our help. Over the course of 18-24 months, families progress through our systematic program, developing the knowledge and skills, vital to life.

Only when the time is right, families graduate from our program, becoming truly self-sufficient. Forever part of the Priestmead family.

Program Divisions

Priestmead focuses on every aspect of a families life that’s needed for true self-sufficiency - their physical health, mental health, their home, their education and their friendships. Alone, an improvement in any one of these areas would still leave a family living in poverty. But helping a family to develop comprehensively, and sustainably, means they will overcome poverty for good.

“Preparing a balanced meal, tidiness and cleanliness is the blueprint of Priestmead.”

The Priestmead Team

Founded in 2019, we began with a team of two in the UK - shortly after we were joined by our first full-time Rwandese staff member. Selectively, the team has grown, with a dedicated leader for each of the programs divisions. Within those divisions, more than 120 jobs have been provided to beneficiaries to support the scale of the program. Our success is down to the dedication and discipline of the full-time team.

“As staff, I am now seeing the life of all beneficiaries change - from messy to tidy, from hunger to well nourished, from homeless to sheltered. I am happy to be part of the team which is making this impact - still loving and ready to serve.”
